Did you know that approximately 1/3 of your electric bill is due to the cost of heating water? This cost will only go up if Congress passes the cap-and-trade legislation they are currently discussing. But you can reduce these costs and it is not as expensive as you think. I am currently in the process of switching over to a solar water heater. This type of heater uses the sun’s energy to heat your water supply and it even works during power outages. I think this was the best selling point for me as I was without electricity for a week after a hurricane. This is definitely worth looking into for everyone during these trying economic times.
