The two main types of DVD printer that a small business or an individual is likely to consider buying are a thermal printer or an Ink Jet printer. Each have advantages and disadvantages, the main benefit to Ink Jet printing is the quality and the lower cost of the equipment. On the whole Ink jet printing produces the most vibrant colours and the best resolution prints. The key disadvantages to buying an Ink Jet DVD printer is that the prints are not as durable as thermally printed discs and each disc tends to have a high cost per print so you can find that you lose the money you save by purchasing cheaper equipment with more expensive running costs. The major advantage of thermal DVD printing is that the prints that are produced are durable and not prone to scratching or water damage. Thermal DVD Printers are also cheaper to run although this is balanced by a higher initial purchase cost than Ink Jet printers.
